A Message from
the President
We are about to begin a new season as a member
owned facility. These past few months have been
very productive. From a community perspective,
we are experiencing a number of inquiries as to the
availability of residences from prospective buyers
and realtors. Along with this, we feel a sense of op-
timism regarding potential new members at the club,
both golf and social. In the near future, we expect
to see another builder breaking ground on the lots
within the Novela neighborhood.

Some of the highlights follow:
·
Negotiations with the Lee County Tax Asses-
sor's office have been helpful and cooperative.
The result has been an immediate tax savings to
the Club with a further reduction in our tax bur-
den expected for the 2010 tax year as well.
·
The Board of Directors has maintained a conser-
vative fiscal policy whereby further reductions in
club debt has been achieved and funded re-
serves have been set aside. One sale and
leaseback transaction took place with a substan-
tial portion of the club's course maintenance
equipment being acquired. The remainder of the
maintenance equipment has been replaced with
new equipment on favorable terms, all owned by
the club. In addition, a new fleet of golf carts
has been acquired.
·
Amazingly, club functions have been successful.
Considering the impact of being off season, sup-
port and participation has been overwhelming
for all of those events offered. These have been
supported by the entire community.

·
As of this writing, the old welcome center site is
in the process of being converted into more park
space. The old sales trailers have been disman-
tled and removed, the entry fountain and lighting
is being put back in operation and a patio with a
pergola covering is being restored. Landscaping
should complete the site revitalization within the
next few weeks. The newly renovated park
should be an attractive enhancement to the
Palmira entrance, as well as the Town Center.
·
Last, but not least, the golf course is in as good
condition as it has ever been.

Kudos, to the staff at Palmira, as well as the Board of
Directors, Committee chairs and participants.

One of Us is missing!

Sadly, we note the loss of Renate
Mattheaus.

Renate gave much to Palmira. In so many
respects, she was always there; gracing
the lives of all of us here at Palmira in dra-
matic fashion, even while dealing with a
bout of a debilitating cancer.
